Purlin and butterfly connection elements used in roof construction.
Purlins and butterfly ties are the structural connecting and supporting elements of a roof's timber framework. The purlin is an intermediate member that ties the rafters and roof beams together, giving the roof frame rigidity and strength.
The butterfly tie is a connecting piece that locks timber elements to one another. Correctly chosen purlins and butterfly ties keep the roof standing safely against wind and snow loads.
