Plywood or OSB? Choosing panels for construction and wood applications

Özyalçınlar Orman Ürünleri San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. · Published:

Plywood

Plywood and OSB are both part of the Özyalçınlar panel range. Their manufacturing structures differ, so selection should go beyond price or appearance. For formwork, sheathing and other wood applications, first establish the performance and product grade required by the project.

Product structure and intended use

Plywood consists of wood veneer layers, while OSB is made from oriented wood strands. This does not mean every plywood or OSB panel suits the same task. Check thickness, grade, surface properties and the manufacturer's declared conditions of use together.

Specify moisture exposure and reuse expectations

For applications exposed to moisture, ask for technical documentation and edge-protection requirements. The term film-faced plywood alone does not guarantee unlimited reuse or water resistance in every situation. Cutting, installation, cleaning and storage also affect results. Record the required performance in the quotation.

Compare quotes on matching specifications

Provide panel width, length, thickness, quantity, surface requirements and delivery location. A cutting plan helps identify usable area and waste. Compare the total cost of meeting the requirement with equivalent panels rather than looking only at the price per sheet. Ask Özyalçınlar about current plywood and OSB options.
